SYNCBOX II – Synchronizes 2 USB storage devices

April 5, 2005

The SYNCBOX II looks pretty sweet. Slap 2 USB storage devices onto the SYNCBOX II and it synchronizes the contents of the two devices. This could be really useful for digital photographers to offload images from a digital camera to a USB hard drive since it’s much more compact than a laptop. Unfortunately, the tech specs indicate an internal transfer rate of only 810KB/sec. That’s pretty slow if you have a filled up 2GB CF card in your camera.

Syncbox II won’t be out for a few months.
The best device I have found for copying data from a camera to hard drive or other storage device is Aleratec USB Copy Cruiser Plus. It even comes with built in 8 in 1 card reader. Will work with Mass storage devices and PTP devices. http://www.aleratec.com/usbcocrplpa3.html

Man, I posted about the SYNCBOX back in April and it STILL isn’t out yet? Thanks for the tip on the Aleratec.
