Just wanted to pass this on to people here.

If you are an owner of a D-link product with hardware/firmware problems that are still unresolved despite all your efforts to have them resolve them or if you have recently upgraded your firmware only to have your router become useless or not perform as advertised. Immediately follow the instructions below and wait for more details on a website that is being developed now to assist you with these problems.

In the meantime...you need to do the following immediately.

1). File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org (this will get an immediate response from Dlink and replacement of your router - at least for now)

2). File a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs at http://www.dca.ca.gov/online_services/complaints/consumer_complaint.shtml

3). File a complaint with YOUR state's consumer affairs.

4.) File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

5.) File a complaint with Rippoffreport.com at http://www.ripoffreport.com/login.asp

You may use the complaint text for each one (that way it saves you loads of time). Also save your paperwork and all emails, conversations, phone records...everything! Do NOT dispose of, sell, trade or otherwise let the hardware go as this may become valuable evidence for authorities.

Your warranty status does NOT matter. Facts are if the firmware update that D-Link provided caused the damage they are liable to fix and/or repair the damage in a reasonable period of time.
More on the self help website will be announced shortly. In the meantime you need to immediately file the complaints above and SAVE EVERYTHING!

More announcements will be posted shortly with information on a self-help website designed to assist all D-Link product owners who have been affected by D-Link's faulty product updates.

Also beware!! D-link is banning anyone critical of D-link in their forums or anyone who tries to pin them down. You probably wanna check out the following two threads as well.

I've had this box for about 1½ years now. I think the whole user interface is clumsy and a bit slow.

The problem Ryan had with video streaming is avoided by using a good media server program. I myself have a TwonkyMedia server (running in Linux and also available in Windows), but there are other choices available, too.

If I'd be watching photos with this equipment I'd either make smaller copies of the pictures or make the media server convert the photos on fly.

The internet radio on DSM-320RD is b*****it, but once again, using a good media server you have a working solution to that problem.

So, go to http://www.twonkymedia.com/ and give it a try.

I just have to say I got my DSM-320RD in the mail yesterday, and from the time opening the box to the time I was streaming house was about 12 minutes, INCLUDING doing the Firmware update! I am using the LAN to my Router, then WiFi to my PC.. Works VERY well.... Not as nice as a Mac Mini with Front Row, but not too bad...

I will admit the software interface on the box itself BLOWS, and the remote is kinda cheap... But its not bad overall... I tried TVersity last night, but i dunno... it just didnt seem right.... But it was probably just me... gonna try it again tonight when I get home...

Anybody know of an aftermarket Interface that isnt as cheesy as the OEM DLink Software?

Hi. Like many others I saw this product as a way to link my PC and my TV/stereo. I have had much trouble with the wireless settings, but today I connected with cable and thoght that would solve every problem. Well, it did not! We have all our photos and music on a d.link dns-232 network disk with built in mediaplayer. I hoped that the cable would give faster access to our photos, but with resolution 3072*2304 (1mb) it works sooooo slow. Anyone else with this problem? Is it the 320RD that has to little memory/prosessor? T.Norway

My original review was posted almost 3 years ago, I wonder if the 320RD is actually much better now that it's had 3 years to get bugs and kinks ironed out of it.

Hi all
I got my first DSM-320RD six months ago. Now, I've three boxes at home.
Yes, the remote is bad. Also, the FF/REW issue is very annoying. But... using them for photos (jpeg 640x480), music (MP3) and videos (DivX/Xvid@~800Kbps, MP3@128Kb) they really do the job. Again: my mum (living downstairs) uses one of them on wlan (to be honest, she's using an external 6dBi antenna...), and it works correctly, even when enjoying different movies on each player. My upnp-av server is uShare, running on a slug (Linksys NSLU/2, which also support bittorrent downloading... :D) and my wifi router is a D-Link DSL604T. The wlan encryption is WEP.

IMHO, the DSM-320RD is not so bad.... if you take care of what you're asking for ;)

in response to rich:

if you put the volume above half on the player itself it disorts but it you keep it below half then it works fine. so I don't touch the volume on the player anymore and it sounds great now. its similar to turning up the volume on your MP3 player then playing it though the aux port on your car stereo. it sounds horrible turn it down a bit and it sounds good agian. hope this helps
Heres the rebate but you have 30days from purchase to use it.
